Logistics Coordinator - Cross-Border Operations

About the Role

Baranta is hiring Logistics Coordinators to support our growing cross-border logistics operations between the United States and Mexico. This hands-on role is perfect for someone early in their logistics career who wants to develop expertise in international transportation, customs, and supply chain coordination.

As a Logistics Coordinator, you’ll be the operational hub connecting clients, carriers, customs brokers, and warehouses to ensure seamless shipment execution. You’ll manage shipment bookings, track deliveries, resolve issues, and provide responsive client communication—all critical to delivering the reliable service Baranta is known for.

This position is based in our Calexico, CA headquarters on the US-Mexico border, giving you front-row exposure to one of the busiest commercial border crossings in North America.

What You’ll Do

Shipment Coordination

• Book Shipments - Arrange transportation with trucking carriers, confirm rates and capacity, provide pickup/delivery instructions
• Documentation - Generate bills of lading (BOLs), packing lists, shipping labels, and other required documents
• Tracking - Monitor shipment status from pickup through delivery using TMS, carrier portals, and GPS tracking
• Updates - Provide proactive status updates to clients and internal teams
• Delivery Confirmation - Ensure POD (proof of delivery) obtained and filed

Cross-Border Operations

• Customs Coordination - Work with customs brokers to ensure entry filing and clearance prior to arrival
• Border Crossing - Monitor border wait times and crossing status; troubleshoot holds or delays
• Documentation Flow - Ensure commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs documents transmitted correctly
• Carrier Compliance - Verify carriers have proper authorities, insurance, and FAST/C-TPAT status as needed

Issue Resolution

• Delays & Exceptions - Identify and resolve shipment delays due to traffic, weather, carrier issues, customs holds, etc.
• Damage & Loss - Coordinate claims processing for damaged or missing freight
• Emergency Expediting - Arrange expedited transportation for time-critical shipments
• Client Escalations - Handle client concerns professionally and work to resolve quickly

Client & Carrier Communication

• Client Interface - Respond to client inquiries about shipment status, delivery times, and documentation
• Carrier Relations - Maintain relationships with trucking providers; negotiate rates and service levels
• Internal Collaboration - Coordinate with customs brokers, warehouse staff, account managers, and sales team
• Language Support - Communicate fluently in English and Spanish with US and Mexican partners

Data & Reporting

• TMS Data Entry - Maintain accurate shipment records in transportation management system
• KPI Tracking - Monitor on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and carrier performance
• Reporting - Generate shipment reports and analytics for management and clients
• Documentation Filing - Organize and file shipping documents for audit and compliance purposes

Who You Are

Your Background

You have 1-3 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain coordination, or a related field. You understand transportation modes (truck, rail, intermodal), are familiar with shipping documents (BOL, commercial invoice, packing list), and ideally have some exposure to cross-border or international logistics.

You’re bilingual (English/Spanish), which is essential for communicating with Mexican carriers, suppliers, and customs agents. If you grew up or have lived in the Calexico/Imperial Valley area, you already understand the unique dynamics of border operations.
